Emmys 2021: una corona para Netflix

El domingo 19 de septiembre se llevó a cabo la 73ª entrega los Emmy Awards. Las series The Crown (Netflix), Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) y Mare of Easttown (HBO) fueron las grandes ganadores de la jornada, con siete, cuatro y tres galardones, respectivamente. A este grupo se sumó Hacks, con tres premios.

En general no hubo sorpresas, pero se destacaron los premios para Tobías Menzies (The Crown) como Mejor actor de reparto en Serie dramática y Ewan McGregor (Halston) como Mejor actor en Serie limitada/Película para TV. También sobresalió la distinción para Hacks en Mejor dirección en Serie de comedia. Además, The Queen’s Gambit se llevó la estatuilla a Mejor dirección en Serie limitada y el máximo honor en esa categoría. ¿La curiosidad? Disney+ no obtuvo éxitos con WandaVision ni The Mandalorian.

En este marco, Netflix resultó la plataforma más ganadora del evento, con 10 triunfos sobre los nueve de HBO (que no pudo llegar a los 11 del año pasado con la inclusión de HBO Max) y los cuatro de Apple TV+. En total, los primeros puestos de las nominaciones tuvieron a Netflix (29), HBO (28), Disney+ (22), Hulu (14) y Apple+ (13). Aunque, si suma a HBO Max, HBO obtuvo 41 posibilidades de éxitos.

Por otro lado, y a diferencia de lo que pasó en los Oscars, la ceremonia resultó más cálida, con un buen ritmo a cargo de Cedric the Entertainer y hasta con un sketch de “club de apoyo para no-ganadores” que resultó tan genuino como entretenido. Además, recuperó el respeto por el segmento In Memoriam, que había sido extrañamente acelerado en los máximos premios del cine en abril.
